Abhijit Pathak

A self-inspired artist, Abhijit Pathak was born in 1986 in Bihar. He had a natural love with colours and at an early age he started playing with them. His art education in BHU and then Post Graduation in Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi in 2010 gave him wide perspective to work in various mediums of colours, textures and style. But Abhijit’s love of drawing and water colour is evident even at this stage. Whenever he gets a chance he moves out to the surrounding countryside to paint the landscape in water colour.

Abhijit was noticed for the first time in 2004 when he won an award at the water colour camp held in BHU Varanasi. Subsequently he got various awards including National Award by Lalit Kala Academy in 2009-10 and AIFCS Award in 2011. He also was awarded with National Scholarship by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in 2009 and The Governor of Maharashtra Award & Medal by The Bombay Art Society in 2012. There is a large list of the exhibitions and camps he participated in. His painting has its own unique style which has been admired and appreciated by contemporary artists and art critics in India and abroad.

What Abhijit says about his works -

“As the global contemporary mode of practising arty activities are rapidly growing by means of techniques and materials but not free from the existence of indigenous soul of the locality or geography. In such I, too, practice the job in a global trend but spontaneously my domain is exploring visual elements, incidents, issues and imageries with contemporary mode of execution and presentation. Besides the aforesaid thematic and manner of presenting my urge, I always emphasise the space alignment as a significant part of the technical aspect of art practice. The process starting from perceiving worldly or intellect level, up to execution at the working space makes me pleased.
