Ceramic Pottery- basic forms and practice

Make your first time memorable while having lots of fun with clay. You will learn the basics of hand building in this short introductory course. Also learn the basics of wheel throwing and see what you can do with your skills & imaginations.

Major Concepts/ Content

This short duration ceramic course has been designed to provide a studio-oriented experience with basic study and practice –
  • Demo session - emphasize on form and design with clay
  • The historical role of pottery in our culture.
  • Preparation of the clay – kneading, coiling and pinching.
  • Shape making and designs with coil.
  • Hand building process in slab – forms and designs
  • Pinching process- forms and applications
  • Introduction of kick wheel and electric wheel.
  • Throwing process- placing, centering and gripping the clay.
  • Shape making in throwing process.
  • A brief introduction of firing process.
